“Dee-Mack Girls Varsity Basketball Day”
Proclamation by the Village President of the Village of Mackinaw, Illinois, designating March 5, 2026 as Dee-Mack Girls Varsity Basketball Day
WHEREAS, the Dee-Mack Lady Chiefs Girls Varsity Basketball Team has demonstrated extraordinary dedication, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the 2025–2026 season; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Joni Nightingale, the Dee-Mack Lady Chiefs have achieved an outstanding overall record of 32–3; and
WHEREAS, the team earned the distinguished title of Class 1A IHSA Supersectional Champions, marking a significant milestone in program history; and
WHEREAS, the Dee-Mack Lady Chiefs now enter uncharted waters by advancing to compete in the IHSA State Final Four, representing their school and the Village of Mackinaw on the state’s biggest stage; and
WHEREAS, the players, coaching staff, families, students, and community supporters have shown unwavering pride and spirit, bringing honor and recognition to the Village of Mackinaw; and
WHEREAS, this remarkable achievement reflects the values of hard work, sportsmanship, commitment, and excellence that define our community;
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Village of Mackinaw to be affixed this 3rd day of March 2026.
Now therefore, I, Josh Schmidgall, President of Mackinaw, do hereby proclaim March 5, 2026 as Dee-Mack Girls Varsity Basketball Day in the Village of Mackinaw and I urge all residents to join in congratulating and supporting the Dee-Mack Lady Chiefs as they compete at the IHSA State Semifinal at CEFCU Arena on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:45 a.m.
